This sound processor was from days when VCRs were just becoming stereo and surround sound was a glimmer on the horizon. This unit would take a mono source and simulate a stereo signal. It would also do a nice expansion trick with stereo sources to make the room seem a little more theater-like. But most useful was the Dynamic Noise Reduction feature. This noise gate would effectively zap tape noise without sacrificing sound quality. I used it with my Pioneer RT-909 reel-to-reel to make playback virtually noise free.
If you're copying any noisy analog sources (LP, cassette, reel-to-reel, VCR) to CD or DVD this DNR processor will help clean 'em up.
