This adapter can quickly be added to any brand digital system or analog/digital cinema processor. A mid-surround signal presence circuit automatically switches to the Surround EX™ format when mid-surround material is present. Also, a front control button will manually select the desired format for normal split-surround or 3 channel surround operation. Mono surround information from optical stereo soundtracks feeds all three channels simultaneously. The transition is automatic if the logic circuits from the CS-EX are tied to the pulse format terminals of any stereo processor. An emergency BYPASS switch on the front panel of the CS-EX permits the left and right surrounds to pass through the product in the event of a failure.
